The international grading system helps teach children how to set goals and how to achieve them through perseverance and determination. ROOTS BJJ offers a range of training options for children and teens. These class are suitable for both boys and girls. Contact your local gym or visit the locations page to find out what is on offer near you. Little Ninjas
The little Ninjas classes are a modified children's BJJ curriculum, and they are designed for children between the ages of 3 to 5 (pre-school). The Little Ninjas classes have a strong focus on fun, balance, and coordination. Classes work with the basics of BJJ, and incorporate elements of functional training (e.g. obstacle courses and animal walks). Classes run between 30 minutes to one hour depending on the gym.

School and After school care Programs
Self-defense, discipline, self-respect, and respect for others are some of the skills that we teach as part of our school and after-shool training sessions at ROOTS BJJ. ROOTS BJJ highly trained and qualified instructors can develop a program to suit the needs and ages of your students. We specialise in self-defence and anti-bullying programs. All of our instructors have valid Working With Children Checks (WWCC) and First Aid certification.
Rugby Tackle Training
The strategies used in BJJ have also been shown to be effective in Rugby not only for safety reasons, but also because BJJ teaches many basic techniques that Rugby League players utlise to get to their feet quickly. These include ways to get out from underneath a larger opponent and manouvers to regain a standing position using the opponent’s strength. ROOTS Tackle training can be integrated into your team's training and can be adapted for youths, teens and adults. Read more about the benefits of BJJ for Rugby here.
